10 things to pack for your overseas trip!

You're about to embark on an amazing overseas trip, but you don't want to have to think about what to bring, or end up panicking hours before your flight wondering if you've forgotten anything. If that sounds like you, then we've got just the list for you. Read on to find out what's on our list of travel essentials!

1. Your Passport

Just about the one thing you'll definitely want to keep with you on any overseas trip. Without this, you can bid your exotic travels goodbye! I generally like keeping a photocopy of my passport as a back-up, so in the case of emergencies, I always have one on hand.

2. Travel Visas, Insurance, all that nitty gritty

This seems like the next most obvious thing on the list, but you'd be surprised at the number of times I've completely forgotten about getting my travel visa ready. Make sure you've got yourself covered well ahead of the trip and keep your travel insurance numbers handy in case of emergencies!

3. Cash

So you've probably packed your Visa cards, debit cards... But when you're hopping off the plane and grabbing a cab somewhere, or picking up some food from a street-side stall, you're going to wish you had some spare cash on you. Keep some spare change on you - a little change goes a long way.

4. A durable backpack

You're going to want something handy to carry all your stuff around. In my experience, I've always loved having a light, durable backpack that just lets me put everything I want in it. And if you can, find one with heaps of little pockets within - perfect for coins, stashes of money, or little trinkets and souvenirs that you pick up along the way.

5. Moisturiser and lip balm

I know, I know. This is one of those things that your mum loooooves going on and on about and you choose to ignore it. But trust me, it's going to do you SO much good when you get there and the air is dry and your lips are chapped and you're just feeling like you needed that little extra to keep moisturised and happy.

6. Power adaptors

In an age where electronics are all the hype and all you want need is a fully charged mobile phone to get around... This is something you definitely won't want to leave out of your packing list!

7. A travel soundtrack

I'm a big fan of creating playlists specific to the place I'm travelling to... Whether this means adding some French tunes into the mix for a trip to Paris, or some upbeat music to get me pumped for the vibrancy of New York, I love being able to chuck on this playlist and think back fondly on my adventures abroad, bringing me back to that same space and time all over again. #Wanderlust feels, anybody?

8. A camera

Whether it's a compact camera, a DSLR, or your handy vlogging camera, you'll want to document your trip abroad. If you, like me, are big on capturing moments in photographs and having these to look back on, this is one item you won't want to leave behind.

9. Local lingo

Are you going to a completely foreign country where they speak a completely different language? What things can you pick up along the way? What would be handy to know before travelling - 'Excuse me, can you help me?' 'Hello how are you?' and 'Thank you very much!!!' Knowing these in their local language will certainly go a very, very long way.

And finally...

10. An explorer attitude.

Going abroad means big things and it's always best to keep an open mind. You won't want to be the one that stays in the hotel room and sleeps all day, when you can be out there exploring and experiencing all there is that your city of interest has to offer.
