G'day mate! Happy Australia Day!
In the spirit of celebrating our National Day (apart from the fact that it's a public holiday 😜), we've come up with a list of things to celebrate us being Aussie and why we simply love this country so much! Read on to find out all the quirks, stunning scenery, and little anecdotes that make us us. Tell us which ones you agree with, which ones you don't, and which ones you wish were on our list too!
1. We are proud of the lessons that our Aussie icons have taught us
Anyone remember that Aussie sitcom of mother and daughter Kath and Kim living in a fictional suburb in Melbourne, Victoria? The satirical situation comedy brings to light traditional Aussie quirks, and ones that to date we still laugh at!
And don't even get me started on our Aussie sports... Australian Rules football anyone?! Whether it's the Aussie Rules football, cricket, rugby, horse racing, Australia Open... You name it, there's gonna be someone right around the corner who's fanatical about it.
Also speaking of icons... We've gotta love our birds.
2. We love our multiculturalism
I mean this is all ways possible. Whether it's the food we eat, or the animals we have, or even the popular characters... like Jonah from Summer Heights High that simply show us that Australia is so multicultural that we end up doing the most ridiculous things sometimes... And you know, that we have contracts for things we can and can't do. 😜
Jokes aside, we love that we have our vegemite. There's nowhere else in this world where you can down a spoonful of vegemite and not get gawked at, or simply having vegemite spread on your bread for breakfast.
There's also the fact that we have so many animals...
3. Our loving and supportive government
Because we have the likes of Julia Gillard and Pauline Hanson that make our lives that much more entertaining. I mean, really, do I need to say more? It's probably not a common occurrence that your Prime Minister gets thrown a sandwich her way, or parodied on a YouTube video with over 500,000 hits. You can only imagine.
And yet despite all of that, we're still glad to have what we call home. Whether it's the Great Barrier Reef...
Or Ayers Rock...
There's something in every major city of Australia for us to love.
Not to mention, we have a seasonal schedule different from the rest of the world too! Where we get to celebrate Christmas in the Summer and saunter through our winter days in July when the rest of the world complains about the heatwave. Ahhh... Bliss.
At the end of it all, I guess we're still really lucky (especially for our whacked sense of humour here at Leezair ✌️️😜)...
So whether you're celebrating this Australia Day on the beach, having a Barbie with some friends in your backyard, or cruising down the harbour admiring the fireworks... We hope you have the best time celebrating this day with your fam, because this is what makes us, so ridiculously proud to be us.
And of course, we all know that
