This Long Weekend: What To Do In The Hunter Valley!

Felicia PohFelicia Poh

Thinking of getting out of the hustle and bustle of the city for the long weekend? Here's what you can do on your upcoming long weekend.

The best experiences I've had have always come down to the adventures, the people I'm with, and the type of photos we'd venture out to get. Funnily enough, I've never placed that much emphasis on the tourist attractions and each new place I venture into has always been in the spirit of finding something new; something that I hadn't seen before. So if there's something you could get up to this long weekend and if you're looking to rejuvenate and get out of a dull routine, then here's to you.

The sun's out and the sky's clear. My favourite way to kick-start a long weekend is by taking a relaxing walk outside to detach and unwind from the pressures of the week. Get your day started by exploring the Hunter Valley gardens and soak in the morning sun.

After a refreshed start to the day, get into one of the biggest Hunter Valley offerings by giving your stomach and soul a treat with a food and wine tour around Hunter. Explore 3 different wineries on a full guided tour and unwind over lunch with a glass of wine, craft beer or cider. Savour the very best local cheese and chocolate while you sample some organic vodka, schnapps, gin & liqueur. And if this is all you're really looking for, then you'll love how this tour picks you up from Pokolbin/Cessnock and drops you right back where you left off.

As the day winds down, hop on board a helicopter taking you straight to your horse ride where you ride off into the setting sun... Well, close enough! This hour-long horse ride will take you along the Molly Morgan Range, giving you a perfect way to experience the outdoors and fully immerse yourself in the bushland and wildlife, completely washing away the worries of your week.

Day 2 marks the start of a fresh day, and what better way to start than with a dreamy hot air balloon ride? Set your hearts free and take in the breathtaking views as you watch the sun rise, signalling the beginning of a beautiful day.

And when you're so far away from the city and your regular work routine, take some time to fully immerse yourself into the surroundings. The open fields in Hunter Valley are a refreshing change to your city scape. Make the most of it by wining and dining outside by the field with a picnic.

Or if you're feeling like something a little heartier and can't say no to good beer, the Matilda Bay Brewery is where you want to be - packed complete with a 15-min scenic flight around Hunter Valley on your very own private helicopter, a complete lunch of your choosing, and the most delightful beer tasting paddle to accompany.

With your stomachs full and your hearts filled with adventure, enjoy a slow stroll around Hunter Valley with your partner or friends, and share your favourite memories as the sun goes down. If you're feeling a little more adventurous, try going on the Adrenaline Doors Off Flight that'll take you on a loop around Hunter Valley, giving you the most awe-inspiring views, and the most memorable day to round off the perfect weekend.

Feast For the Senses

And if you're feeling like a nice pampering for a really special weekend getaway, then perhaps you'll love this. Go on a spectacular scenic flight that takes you over Hunter Valley, whisking you away to a local, multi-awards restaurant. Enjoy a relaxing 1-hour massage before you dive into a scrumptious 3-course lunch and bottle of wine. Oh heavenly days...
